Ardgowan Hotel

The Ardgowan Hotel, is Scottish Tourist Board 3 Star Hotel centrally located within St. Andrews, on North Street, 200 yards from the world famous Old Course golf course and R&A building. The Ardgowan Hotel is also near the town centre and the University of St Andrews.

The Ardgowan comprises of two adjoining Georgian Houses of architectural note designed by the famous Scottish Architect Sir William Playfair.

Set back within our own seated patio, which won the St. Andrews Floral Award for Hotels 2009, the Ardgowan offers twenty-nine comfortable en suite bedrooms, all recently refurbished to a very high standard. Each room includes complimentary internet access, a digital television and radio, tea and coffee making facilities, a telephone, and a hairdryer. Same day wash and fold laundry service is also available.

On the ground floor of the hotel is Playfair's well-known Scottish restaurant and lounge bar, where we serve a wide variety of freshly prepared food using top quality local suppliers and Scottish malts.

Playfairs Restaurant and Steakhouse is one of the oldest established restaurants in St. Andrews and has a reputation for providing guests with high end casual dining. The restaurant's new Grill Menu features a wide selection of exquisite dishes, including tasty starters and salads, as well as local steaks and fresh seafood. Wrap up your evening with a sweet treat from the restaurant's newly expanded dessert menu or a temptingly indulgent glass of wine.

Golf has been played in St. Andrews from as early as 1400 AD. The Ardgowan is a very popular accommodation provider for golf vacations and visitors to St. Andrews University and town.

Nearby golf courses include Kingsbarns, Crail, Ladybank, Lundin Links, and Scotscraig. Perhaps the most exciting course nearby the hotel, though, is St. Andrews Links, Europe's largest golfing complex with six 18-hole courses and 1 9-hole course.
