Accommodation
Kingsmills Hotel

The Kingsmills Hotel was built in 1786 for William Inglis who was later to become Provost of Inverness. The original house is the heart of the hotel, ensuring you can experience a piece of Scottish Heritage, steeped in the elegance and charm of a building of this age.

Guests are thrilled that they can stay where Scotland's most famous bard visited in 1787.

You can still see the original ornate ceiling and cornice in the Adams Lounge. Home of Provost Inglis, he was visited by Robert Burns on Wednesday 5th September 1787, and the letter from Rabbie Burns thanking the Provost for the warm welcome during the visit is on display in reception.

A mile from the city centre and the River Ness, which flows majestically through the centre, the Kingsmills has tastefully and yet sympathetically extended over the years to open as a luxury Inverness hotel in 1947.

The four-star Kingsmills Hotel includes a multitude of spa and leisure facilities, such as a sauna, steam room, spa bath, coffee bar, jacuzzi, swimming pool, and highly qualified fitness instructors.

The hotel also boasts two exquisite restaurants that are sure to suit any dining occasion. Set over the beautiful garden grounds, the Conservatory a la Carte Restaurante is the perfect location for a business lunch or an intimate family gathering. The Inglis Restaurant presents a fixed table d'hote menu, offering the freshest fish and best local ingredients of each season.

The name Kingsmills commemorates a meal mill which stood in the grounds of the hotel until the 1950’s.  Licensing of the mill was granted by the crown alone until 1575, hence the “Kings” mills.
