Golf Course/
Tain

Tain Golf Club is a beautiful 18 hole links golf course designed by Old Tom Morris in 1890 in the Royal Burgh of Tain, Ross-shire, Scotland. Tain's fortune is that so many of Old Tom's original holes survive.

Five Morris holes remain in each half. Going out, these are the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th and 9th. Coming home, they are the 10th, 14th, 15th, 16, and 17th. Indeed, the 17th hole is rated probably the finest of all Tom Morris short holes anywhere. Not surprisingly, therefore, Tain is fondly referred to as Old Tom Morris's Northern Jewel, which treasures the Grand Old Man of Golf as its founding genius.

Tain Golf Club is in a sheltered position giving favourable golfing conditions most of the year. It overlooks the Dornoch Firth and arguably offers one of the best settings imaginable in the Highlands for a round of golf.

With the sea on one side and the backdrop of the mountains behind, each day brings a different aspect to this challenging and beautiful course. Whilst the layout of the holes guarantees an interesting round for beginners or experts.

Tain is the oldest Royal Burgh in Scotland, the rights of sanctuary being confirmed by Malcolm Canmore in 1066. Come enjoy the perfect combination of a traditional course with the modern game.
